Baseball Game Preview: Wayne County Cardinals vs. Williamsburg Yellow Jackets

The Wayne County Cardinals will take on the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Wayne County nor Williamsburg posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Last Tuesday, Wayne County didn't have quite enough to beat Southwestern and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Williamsburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 21-2 to South Laurel.

Williamsburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Kleinert, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Wayne County dropped their record down to 6-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Williamsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Wayne County took their victory against Williamsburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 21-3 score. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Yellow Jackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
