Recap: Willis Wildkats vs. Oak Ridge War Eagles
The Willis Wildkats's found some homefield redemption this week after a tough overtime loss to The Woodlands Highlanders on Wednesday. Willis came out on top against Oak Ridge by a score of 76-65. Given Willis' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Oak Ridge is ranked 905th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Willis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryce Bass, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jermaine Bishop jr, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Willis pushed their record up to 20-11 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points per game. As for Oak Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-21 record this season.
Willis will be playing at home against Grand Oaks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Willis has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 224 points over their last three games. As for Oak Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on New Caney at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. New Caney is facing Oak Ridge at the right time seeing as Oak Ridge is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
