The Ferndale Eagles will challenge the Osborn Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ferndale is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over Southfield Arts & Tech on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Mason Shaltis made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ferndale is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise. Shaltis was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 contests.

In other batting news, Jaylin Dennard was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Ferndale: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-6 otherwise. Isiah Harris was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Ferndale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .524. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Osborn strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Northwestern 18-6.
A Woods was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was T Brown, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Osborn's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Ferndale, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ferndale has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Osborn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
