Football Game Preview: Red Springs Red Devils vs. South Columbus Stallions

The Red Springs Red Devils will challenge the South Columbus Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Red Springs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Red Springs is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Brunswick on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game back in September (35), the Red Devils still had to take the loss.

Despite the defeat, Red Springs got top-tier performance from Chase Boone, who threw for 403 yards and three TDs while completing 96% of his passes, and also rushed for 80 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries. Boone has become a key player for the Red Devils: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 250 passing yards, but 0-3 otherwise.

Red Springs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tamarius Brown and Isaiah Atkinson.

Meanwhile, South Columbus had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Fairmont 55-36 on Friday.

Red Springs' loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for South Columbus, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Red Springs against South Columbus when the teams last played back in April of 2021, as the squad secured a 27-0 win. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Stallions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
