Basketball Recap: Malachi Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverton over Green River

Riverton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. The matchup between the Riverton Wolverines and the Green River Wolves didn't end well, with the Riverton Wolverines falling 62-48. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, with their most recent defeat being a 56-47 loss back in February.

Riverton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Malachi Smith, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Another player making a difference was Ryan Cox, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Riverton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Riverton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Green River, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-16.

Riverton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Green River, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-32 loss against Evanston on the 8th.
