Recap: Community Christian Warriors vs. Atlas Prep
The Community Christian Warriors had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points), and they went ahead and made it 15 on Thursday. They greeted the New Year with with a 67-51 victory over Atlas Prep. Given Community Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 524th, while Atlas Prep is ranked 1302nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Community Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Price Horton led the charge by scoring 13 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. Horton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times he's played. David Blackburn was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Community Christian's victory bumped their record up to 17-1. As for Atlas Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.
Community Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against UME Preparatory Academy at 2:00 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully UME Preparatory Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday. Atlas Prep won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Uplift Elevate Prep at 11:00 a.m. on January 5th. Uplift Elevate Prep is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
