Football Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty and Strom Thurmond squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Liberty had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 48-21 loss at the hands of the Rebels. The Red Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-0.

Strom Thurmond's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deonte Phillips led the charge by rushing for 89 yards and one TD on only six carries. Kaden Wigfall was another key player, rushing for 62 yards and one score.

Liberty moved to 8-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Strom Thurmond, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Liberty does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Strom Thurmond, they will be playing at home against Chester at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels will need to watch out since the Cyclones have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.
