Football Recap: Southside Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Southside unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the North Duplin Rebels 27-0 on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Ryan Lewis threw for 72 yards on six of 15 attempts. Chance Haywood was his top target, picking up 53 receiving yards. On the ground, Javonn McCall rushed for 37 yards.

North Duplin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carell Phillips out in front who rushed for 86 yards and one score. Keiz Brock was in the mix too, providing the Rebels with two touchdowns.

Coming up, Southside will welcome North Edgecombe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Duplin, they will head out on the road to face off against Rosewood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
