Softball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

Skyline extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They came up short against the Cimarron Bluejays, falling 13-6. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bluejays apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

As for Cimarron, their victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

For Cimarron's part, Quinn Campbell made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Campbell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Presley Glenn was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Audrey Stewart was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

While Skyline had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
