Football Game Preview: Staunton/Bunker Hill Bulldogs vs. Greenville Comets

Staunton/Bunker Hill is 0-4 against Greenville since September of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Comets at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Staunton/Bunker Hill took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They strolled past Gillespie with points to spare, taking the game 27-8. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Miners: they've now won four in a row.

Staunton/Bunker Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jesse Baker led the charge by rushing for 140 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. Those 140 rushing yards gave Baker a new career-high. Another pass catcher making a difference was Jake Spencer, who picked up 94 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Meanwhile, Greenville was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Southwestern 42-13. That 29 point margin sets a new team best for the Comets this season.

Greenville's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Staunton/Bunker Hill, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Staunton/Bunker Hill took a serious blow against Greenville when the teams last played back in August of 2024, falling 36-7. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
