Basketball Recap: Monacan Drops Season-High Score on Powhatan

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monacan). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Powhatan Indians 76-46. The Chiefs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Monacan had a senior duo take command as Trinity Jones went 10-for-15 on her way to 25 points along with eight rebounds and three steals and Lila Donnelly shot 4-for-5 from deep and dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Donnelly is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiah Marrow, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 10 points.

Monacan has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points over those games. As for Powhatan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.

Monacan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Powhatan, they will challenge Patrick Henry at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Powhatan is facing Patrick Henry at the right time seeing as Patrick Henry is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
