Softball Game Preview: Leominster Blue Devils vs. North Middlesex Regional Patriots

The Leominster Blue Devils will face off against the North Middlesex Regional Patriots at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Leominster is headed into the match having just suffered their closest defeat since May 1, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Doherty Memorial by a score of 6-4. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Highlanders: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, North Middlesex Regional was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 11-1 to St. Bernard's Central Catholic.

Emily Archambault spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and six unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, North Middlesex Regional saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bianca Lake, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was Lake's first of the season.

North Middlesex Regional's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Leominster, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Leominster was able to grind out a solid win over North Middlesex Regional in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, winning 3-0. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
