Basketball Recap: Long Beach Comes Up Short

Long Beach was the 50-45 winner over George County when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Long Beach Bearcats came up short against the George County Rebels on Friday, falling 53-32. The Bearcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Long Beach saw an underclassman step up: freshman Paityn Langley dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance gave Langley a new career-high in rebounds.

Long Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for George County, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-8.

Long Beach wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-24 loss against Pascagoula on the 14th. As for George County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-22 defeat against Hancock on the 14th.
