Baseball Game Preview: Mansfield Christian Flames vs. Crestline Bulldogs

The Mansfield Christian Flames will head out on the road to challenge the Crestline Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Crestline took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mansfield Christian, who comes in off a win.

Mansfield Christian will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Vanlue on Thursday. The Flames put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 11-5 victory. Considering the Flames' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Blayne Morrow and JR Reeder made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Morrow struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Reeder tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Morrow went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Reeder got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and two doubles. That RBI marked the first that Morrow has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Noah Reeder was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Landan McRae, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Crestline was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against Mt. Gilead, falling 32-0.

Crestline saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quentin Kapp, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

Mansfield Christian's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Crestline, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
