Basketball Recap: Columbia Snaps 11-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Columbia's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 57-48 win over the Sweeny Bulldogs. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Roughnecks as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Loss or not, Sweeny got some senior leadership from Tatum Waller and Clinton King -Varner. Waller went 8 for 9 en route to 19 points, while King -Varner dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Waller has scored all season.

Columbia's win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-22. As for Sweeny, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-21.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbia will host Needville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Considering Columbia has lost three straight at home and Needville three straight on the road , this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum. As for Sweeny, they will welcome El Campo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
