Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Leila Merigold and Grace Luedke Lead Lake Country Lutheran to Victory

Lake Country Lutheran had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Messmer Bishops. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lightning also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Lake Country Lutheran was: they took both sets by at least 21 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-0, 25-4.

Leading Lake Country Lutheran to victory were Grace Luedke and Leila Merigold. Luedke had six aces and three digs, while Merigold had seven digs and five aces. That's the most aces Merigold has posted since back in September of 2024. Janelle Seidlitz also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Lake Country Lutheran was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in three consecutive contests.

Lake Country Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 23-15. As for Messmer, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Lake Country Lutheran has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Kenosha Christian Life on the 17th. As for Messmer, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Catholic Central on the 17th.
