Volleyball Recap: Leetonia Comes Up Short

Leetonia lost against McKinley back in October of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Bears fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-2. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 25-19 in the first set.

Leetonia actually scored more points across those five sets (104-97), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-20, 13-25, 25-23, 15-11.

Despite the loss, Leetonia still got an impressive performance from Payton Gray, who had ten digs and eight aces. Another player making a difference was Chloe Williams, who had 14 digs and three aces.

Leetonia's loss dropped their record down to 0-18. As for McKinley, the victory snapped their losing streak at 17 matches and leaves them with a 2-17 record.

Coming up, Leetonia will be playing at home against Bridgeport at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for McKinley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Waterloo on the 7th.
