Soccer Recap: Foothill Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Foothill's game on Wednesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Del Oro Suns. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 270th, while the Suns are ranked 817th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Foothill hit Del Oro with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jacob Martinez Toro, Bryan Lopez Ortega, and Francisco Alcaraz.

Foothill has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those five matches. As for Del Oro, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-5.

Foothill will square off against Arvin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Foothill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.8 goals per game this season. As for Del Oro, they will take on Mira Monte at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mira Monte also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 3.2 goals per game.
