Baseball Game Preview: St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs vs. Montgomery Vikings

The St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Montgomery Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Vincent de Paul is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

St. Vincent de Paul had taken Piner down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Mustangs lost 15-7 to the Prospectors.

Gavin Andres put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run.

In other batting news, Cameron Boutilier was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Jacob Troy also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Montgomery's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They came up short against Analy, falling 12-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since March 5th.

Montgomery's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-5. As for St. Vincent de Paul, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

St. Vincent de Paul was able to grind out a solid win over Montgomery in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 6-3. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
