Baseball Recap: Ponderosa Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Ponderosa ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcon Falcons, sneaking past 9-8. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Nick Moe looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Isai Santaella was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Ponderosa: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Jacobs, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Ponderosa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Falcon only posted an OBP of .389.

Ponderosa's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Falcon, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2-1.

Coming up, Ponderosa is taking a road trip to face off against Arapahoe at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Ponderosa's pitchers better be ready for this one: Arapahoe has averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Falcon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Windsor at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Falcon will need to watch out since Windsor has now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
