Baseball Recap: Chaffey Comes Up Short

Chaffey had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 7-12 to make it five. They fell just short of the Diamond Ranch Panthers by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Diamond Ranch, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 26, 2024.

For Diamond Ranch's part, not much got past Ethan Lomeli, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Chaffey off the board. Lomeli also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Panthers are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Diamond Ranch's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Aparicio, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
