Basketball Recap: Layton Massie's Big Game Can't Quite Lead River View over Tri-Valley

River View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 64-41 to the Tri-Valley Scotties. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 78-43 back in December of 2024.

Several Black Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Layton Massie, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds. Parker Andrews was another key player, going 7 of 15 on his way to 14 points.

River View's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Tri-Valley, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

When River View and Tri-Valley next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. River View will challenge John Glenn and their 11-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. River View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Tri-Valley will try to stop West Muskingum's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
