Basketball Recap: Baboquivari Falls Despite Big Games from Gabriel Pablo and Cade Widener

After flying high against Lourdes Catholic last Thursday, Baboquivari came back down to earth. The Baboquivari Warriors took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. David Tigers on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent loss being a 56-47 defeat back in January.

Cade Widener and Gabriel Pablo certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Widener went 9-for-18 to rack up 20 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Pablo went 5-for-9 on his way to 14 points and six boards. Widener is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tahj Mease, who posted five points and seven rebounds.

Baboquivari dropped their record down to 19-12 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for St. David, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-14 record this season.

Baboquivari wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-34 win against Patagonia on the 8th. As for St. David, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-51 defeat against The Gregory School on the 8th.
