Basketball Game Preview: Florida Christian Patriots vs. Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks

The Florida Christian Patriots will face off against the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Florida Christian is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since January 25th on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Mater Bay Academy 33-30. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Florida Christian can attribute much of their success to Leah Perez, who posted 13 points, and Faith Sumner, who had six points.

Meanwhile, Archbishop McCarthy had to endure a nine-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They secured a 29-23 W over Gulliver Prep on Monday.

Florida Christian's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Archbishop McCarthy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Florida Christian might still be hurting after the 57-31 defeat they got from Archbishop McCarthy in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Florida Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
