Basketball Game Preview: Graves County Eagles vs. Carlisle County Comets

Graves County has gone 8-2 against Carlisle County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will face off against the Comets at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Graves County is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering McCracken County just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 61-57 to the Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Mustangs are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, Carlisle County entered their tilt with Livingston Central on Saturday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 81-55 win. The Comets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Graves County better focus on containing Brennan O'Neill and Wyatt Rickard as the pair were huge in Carlisle County's win. O'Neill went 11-for-15 to rack up 22 points in addition to six assists and three steals, while Rickard shot 67% from the field on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds. What's more, O'Neill also posted a 73% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2025. Another player making a difference was Kasen Perez, who posted 12 points.

Carlisle County's victory bumped their record up to 21-6. As for Graves County, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.

Graves County strolled past Carlisle County in their previous meeting back in February of 2025 by a score of 64-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
