Basketball Recap: DARIYAN WILLIAMS's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Columbia over Gainesville

Columbia lost against Gainesville back in February of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Columbia Tigers came up short against the Gainesville Hurricanes, falling 53-27. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 68th).

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was DARIYAN WILLIAMS, who posted six points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of JOLENA GARDNER, who put up five points in addition to five rebounds and five blocks.

Columbia's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-6. As for Gainesville, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Columbia wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-40 win against Suwannee on the 10th. Gainesville has also already played their next match, a 50-42 victory against West Port on the 9th.
