Softball Recap: Fernandina Beach Takes a Loss

Fernandina Beach dropped their record down to 7-11 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Atlantic Coast Stingrays by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Pirates couldn't push the score so high this time.

Isabella Bishop spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits.

At the plate, Rylee Murallo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Atlantic Coast, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.

On Atlantic Coast's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Lily Maguire gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. Maguire has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Stella Lynton, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Emma Cano was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

As of now, neither Fernandina Beach nor Atlantic Coast have any future games scheduled.
