Volleyball Recap: Austin Takes Down Ranked Bayside Academy + How To Watch

Austin faced Bayside Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Black Bears sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Admirals. For the Black Bears, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 win the Admirals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2021.

Austin had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-17, 15-12.

Charlie Barnes paced Austin's offense, picking up 12 kills. Barnes got some help from Maggie Jae Marsh and her 28 assists. Arden Breedlove controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

The victory made it two in a row for Austin and bumps their season record up to 9-1. As for Bayside Academy, they moved to 6-3 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Coming up, Austin will take on Gulf Breeze in a tournament on Saturday. As for Bayside Academy, they will be taking part in a tournament against Pace at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
