Basketball Recap: Springfield Takes a Loss

Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 43-24 bruising from the Black River Pirates. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Black River's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Morgan Kubitz, who posted 19 points and three steals. Kubitz has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailee Moskal, who had 11 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Springfield's record is now 0-15. As for Black River, with the victory, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Springfield will head out to face off against Field at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Black River, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clearview at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
