Volleyball Recap: Cape Fear Academy Comes Up Short

Cape Fear Academy and Wake Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Cape Fear Academy had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hurricanes have suffered since October 15, 2024.

While Cape Fear Academy was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-22, 25-20.

Frankie Osborne paced Cape Fear Academy's offense, picking up nine kills. Osborne got some help from Beatrice (Bertie) Brookes and her 15 assists. Osborne and Brookes didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with three apiece.

Wake Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Evann Curry, who had 16 digs and three aces. Curry is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 12 games she's played.

Cape Fear Academy moved to 15-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for Wake Christian Academy, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 25-7.

As of now, neither Cape Fear Academy nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
