Softball Game Preview: La Salle Falcons vs. Canby Cougars

For the second straight game, La Salle will face off against Canby. The Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for La Salle's offense. They fell 3-0 to Canby on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Falcons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Canby's part, not much got past Alli Hayzlett, who gave up just five hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep La Salle off the board. Hayzlett has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Taylor Saucedo was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Madi Bigej was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

The win (which was Canby's tenth in a row) raised their record to 15-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for La Salle, they moved to 13-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
