Bloomfield has gone 8-2 against Gallup recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bobcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bengals at 4:00 p.m. Bloomfield knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Gallup likes a good challenge.
Last Tuesday, Bloomfield made easy work of Kirtland Central and carried off a 14-4 victory. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.
Troy Jaramillo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Jaramillo was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Trae Woods was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Cable Carruth was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Bloomfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Gallup lost 12-6 to Aztec on Tuesday. The Bengals have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
Keyshawn Boyd made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Tristin Garcia, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Bloomfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Gallup, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.
Gallup's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bloomfield has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11 hits per game. It's a different story for Gallup, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given Bloomfield's sizable advantage in that area, the Bengals will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bloomfield took their victory against Gallup in their previous matchup last Tuesday by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Bengals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
