Football Recap: Asheboro Comes Up Short + How To Watch

The Asheboro Blue Comets didn't have quite enough to beat the Northeast Guilford Rams on Friday and fell 38-35. While the Blue Comets had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Rams 14-3.

Despite the loss, Asheboro still got an impressive performance from Dallas Brinton, who rushed for 119 yards and two scores, and also threw for 126 yards and one touchdown on only 12 passes. Brinton also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making three total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Elijiah Jones had an outrageously good game for Northeast Guilford as he rushed for 162 yards while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 107 receiving yards and one TD. Jones' longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards. Another player making a difference was JaQuez Crawford, who gained 116 total yards.

Asheboro has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. As for Northeast Guilford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Looking ahead, Asheboro is taking a road trip to face off against Southern Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Comets will be up against the Storm's rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.67 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Northeast Guilford, they will host Eastern Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
