Basketball Recap: Deer Comes Up Short

Deer lost to Jasper back in February of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Antlers had to suffer through a 79-28 loss at the hands of the Pirates. The contest marked the Antlers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Deer has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Jasper, their victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deer will venture away from home to square off against Omaha at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Antlers will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.1 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Jasper, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lead Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' defense better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 69.8 points per game this season.
