Basketball Recap: Kermit Takes a Loss

Kermit was the 57-30 winner over Compass Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Kermit Yellow Jackets were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 46-45 to Compass Academy. The Yellow Jackets' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Kermit lost, don't look at Diego Juarez. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Those 20 points gave Juarez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Pando, who posted 11 points.

Even though they lost, Kermit smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Kermit's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Compass Academy, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-7.

Kermit is taking a road trip to take on IDEA Mesa Hills at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Compass Academy, they will host Lamesa at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Compass Academy is facing Lamesa at the right time seeing as Lamesa is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
