Basketball Recap: Wesson Takes a Loss

Wesson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the South Pike Eagles and fell 79-41. While losing is never fun, the Cobras can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while the Eagles are ranked 119th).

Wesson's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for South Pike, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wesson won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Jefferson County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Pike has already played their next contest (against Wesson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
