Softball Recap: Smoky Valley Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Smoky Valley's game two weeks ago was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Russell Broncos as they made off with a 16-4 win.

Rylie Neywick made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Neywick was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kate Griffin was a standout: she fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylie Tolle, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Smoky Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Smoky Valley's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-15. As for Russell, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Smoky Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-3 defeat against Minneapolis on the 19th. Russell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
