Basketball Recap: Innovation Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Bryce Kankam and Elijah Vega

Innovation Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-57 heartbreaker at the hands of the Nashoba Valley Tech Vikings. The The Red Tailed Hawk were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

Innovation Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Elijah Vega, who went 10 of 22 on his way to 27 points and four steals, and Bryce Kankam, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. The matchup was Kankam's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordy Pe?a-Lugo, who posted two points along with six assists and three steals.

Innovation Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Nashoba Valley Tech, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

After both having extra time off, Innovation Academy and Roxbury Prep Charter will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 4:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. As for Nashoba Valley Tech, they will head out to face off against Ayer Shirley at 4:30 p.m. on December 29th.
