League recap: Lewis breaks off league-leading run for Elkhart

Elkhart's Nick Lewis rumbled for the longest rushing play in Hi-Plains this season in his game against Stanton County last week. Lewis' team fell to the Trojans as he sprinted for 91 yards on the play and finished with 166 in all.

Meade extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Wichita County, 61-14. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.

Justin Hurn was the best wideout in the league this week as Elkhart lost to Stanton County. Hurn tallied four receptions for 99 yards. Hunter Burnett helped Elkhart's passing attack out by catching five balls for 47 yards.

Chris Hardaway put up the best numbers through the air as Meade beat the Indians. He finished with a total of eight completions for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Hardaway's favorite target this week was Morgan Davis, who caught three passes for 47 yards.

Khris Buckner's team's Alex Gomez and Jordan Forbit have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Hi-Plains in both passing and receiving yards. Gomez has thrown for 1480 yards this season, while Forbit, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 31 catches for 575 yards. Cimarron's Ty Clark leads the league in rushing yards with 1012.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Buffaloes take on the Wildcats. As it stands, Meade is in second, while Elkhart is in fifth.

The Bluejays and Lakin played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Bluejays eventually emerging with a 20-17 victory.
