Softball Recap: Cedar Valley Aviators vs. Spanish Fork Dons
Cedar Valley had lost seven straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 15-12 to make it eight. They came up short against the Spanish Fork Dons, falling 12-2. The Aviators were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dons earlier this season, when they won 8-4.
Cedar Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Centry Lundberg, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Lundberg's first of the season.
As for Spanish Fork, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-12. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly ten runs.
On Spanish Fork's side, Paizley Boman spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Boman has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Spanish Fork got a massive performance out of Leila Donegan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave Donegan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lia Higginson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
As of now, neither Cedar Valley nor Spanish Fork have any future games scheduled.
