Softball Game Preview: Berkeley Yellowjackets vs. Mt. Eden Monarchs

Berkeley is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Mt. Eden a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Berkeley Yellowjackets will look to defend their home field against the Mt. Eden Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Liberty hit Berkeley with a eight-run first inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Yellowjackets lost 12-1 to the Lions.

Berkeley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Pritchard, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Mt. Eden came up short against San Leandro on Friday, falling 12-5.

Kealani Temoche was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kailyn Trigos, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Mt. Eden's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Berkeley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Berkeley skirted past Mt. Eden 3-1 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Monarchs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
