Recap: Laurel Spartan vs. Clairton Bears
The Laurel Spartan lost against the Clairton Bears back in September of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Laurel had to suffer through a rough 44-7 loss at the hands of Clairton. While losing is never fun, Laurel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 370th, while Clairton is ranked 163rd).
Despite the loss, Laurel still got an impressive performance from Ben Hennon, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown.
Clairton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drahcir Jones, who rushed for 168 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Jones really tore up the turf during one magnificent 88-yard run. Zaemere Correll was in the mix as well, providing Clairton with two touchdowns.
Laurel's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Clairton, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Laurel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Clairton will be playing in front of their home fans against Union Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Union Area is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
