Basketball Recap: Zy Reese's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Munroe over Crossroad Academy

If Munroe was feeling good fresh off their 68-35 takedown of Sneads last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Munroe Bobcats lost to the Crossroad Academy Scorpions on the road by a 70-54 margin on Saturday. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Scorpions recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Munroe's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zy Reese, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Reese a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Antwon West, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 16 points.

Even though they lost, Munroe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Crossroad Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jabari Boahen, who went 8 for 10 en route to 17 points along with six boards and three steals. Forrest Dudley was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Munroe's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Crossroad Academy, they moved to 9-7 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Munroe has already played their next match, a 0-0 win against Community Christian on the 13th. As for Crossroad Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-46 victory against St. John Paul II on the 15th.
