Football Recap: Harlingen Cardinals vs. Weslaco Panthers
Harlingen gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 42-28 win over the Weslaco Panthers. This was payback for the Cardinals, who suffered a 35-32 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Harlingen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noah Huerta, who rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Huerta's longest rush was for an impressive 61 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Aiden Flores was another key receiver, gaining 104 total yards and three touchdowns.

Weslaco lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Francisco Trevino, who threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 63 yards. Another player making a difference was Chris Luna, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harlingen will venture away from home to square off against Harlingen South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Weslaco, they will head out to take on McAllen Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
