Basketball Recap: West Prairie Gets the Win

West Prairie lost to Cuba/Spoon River Valley back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The West Prairie Cyclones pulled ahead with a 53-52 photo finish over the Cuba/Spoon River Valley Wildcats. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cyclones.

West Prairie's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Clark, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 19 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Those 19 points gave Clark a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Coplan, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points.

West Prairie is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Cuba/Spoon River Valley, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

West Prairie won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Knoxville at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. West Prairie is facing Knoxville at the right time seeing as Knoxville is stuck on a six-game losing streak. Cuba/Spoon River Valley will take on Peoria Christian in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th.
