Baseball Recap: Bloomington Purple Raiders vs. Rantoul Eagles

Bloomington had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 18-13 to make it six. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rantoul Eagles. The Purple Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Rantoul, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-12. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Rantoul's part, Eli Reichenbach was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Reichenbach has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Dayton Wilson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Bloomington will challenge Pontiac at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Rantoul does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
