Recap: Sandhills Classical Christian Lions vs. Cornerstone Christian Academy Cougars
The Sandhills Classical Christian Lions lost against the Cornerstone Christian Academy Cougars back in November of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Sandhills Classical Christian took a serious blow against Cornerstone Christian Academy, falling 74-24. Sandhills Classical Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-16.
Cornerstone Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joseph Lemmon, who scored 30 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lemmon has scored at least a third of Cornerstone Christian Academy's points. Jaylen Bennett was another key contributor, scoring 22 points.
Sandhills Classical Christian's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Cornerstone Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sandhills Classical Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mintz Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Cornerstone Christian Academy, they will square off against Liberty Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty Christian Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
