Basketball Recap: Pike County Central Takes a Loss

Pike County Central lost against Floyd Central back in March of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Pike County Central Hawks took a blow against the Floyd Central Jaguars, falling 72-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hawks have suffered against the Jaguars since January 9, 2021.

Leading Floyd Central to victory were Raegan Laferty and Maddy Engle. Laferty went 8 for 14 on her way to 21 points and eight boards, while Engle went 7 of 11 en route to 19 points. Laferty's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Chloe Crase, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 12 points.

Pike County Central's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Floyd Central, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4.

Pike County Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 72-47 victory against East Ridge on the 16th. Floyd Central has also already played their next contest, a 59-54 defeat against Lawrence County on the 17th.
