Basketball Recap: Emerald Comes Up Short

Emerald was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 54-43 to the Antioch Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-35 on January 6th.

Despite the defeat, Emerald saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brian Lin shot 47% from the field to rack up 21 points. Lin is becoming a predictor of the Aerouants' success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 2-1 (and 2-18 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Alex Lin, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards.

Emerald's loss dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Antioch, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-13.

Looking ahead, Emerald will venture away from home to square off against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Aerouants will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least 55 points in their last five games. As for Antioch, they will host Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
