Springfield Southeast's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Huntley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.

Springfield Southeast and Huntley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Springfield Southeast (ranked 601st) will meet Lanphier (ranked 157th) at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Meanwhile, Huntley will square off against Hononegah at 2:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025 down 216 places (406 vs. 190).
